Project Overview

The proposed Fernieshaw solar farm will produce clean renewable energy contributing to local and national energy targets with additional benefits to include:

  • Biodiversity net gain for the area over the lifetime of the project;
  • Dual use of land with clean energy production and sheep farming;

Key Project Details

  • Location: Lands to the east of Fernieshaw Road and west of Muiredge and Jersey Road, Cleland, Motherwell.
  • Project size: 50MWac 75MWdc (solar and 25MW storage)
  • Site area: c. 253 hectares / 102.4 acres
  • Construction duration: ~ 16 weeks
  • Grazing: Sheep will graze the site once operational
